Autumn audit

Welcome to Autumn! I feel called to sort, discard, and organize. How about you? The darker days here in the Northeast United States call me to move in ancient ways. There are seeds to harvest, squashes to put up, firewood to stack, and the last of the flowers to revel with.

Heartier stews, cozier socks, and matching sweatsuits, here we come! With schedules shifting toward school and holiday calendars, we start to crave routines and structure around our responsibilities to family, community, and ritual. It’s nice to set yourself up to feel ready for what’s next.

I’ve been thinking of how many years it’s taken me to truly hone into my Seasonal Rhythm. As the shape of a spiral shows us, we broaden our form around our center a bit more as we cycle. Each year, there is a deeper understanding of what it takes…and what is unnecessary. Having a rhythm and turning toward your personal rituals means letting go of what wasn’t really yours mentally, materially, and perhaps even spiritually.

If you’re feeling a bit stuck as we turn toward the darker days, past the Autumn Equinox and toward the Winter Solstice, book in a call. It’s free for 30 minutes and we can observe your rhythm together and get you feeling like yourself. And if you like the way I work, you might consider the three week Somatic Attunement Immersion where 1:1 we can sort, discard, and organize together.

Here’s my Seasonal Rhythms inspiration for you today:

  • Gather a thick bouquet of wildflowers like asters and goldenrod and gaze upon it often.

  • Go to your closet and dresser. Lay out your favorite seasonal clothes. The ones that make you feel yourself. Then look at the rest of your collection Choose one or two pieces to update, whether that’s a new jacket or a pair of alpaca socks. Maybe during the colder season, you want a nice cotton robe.

  • Make your own broth! Save and store carrot, celery, onion, and garlic scraps in your freezer along with any bones or meat scraps from cooking.

  • Start thinking of an appropriate holiday budget or other needed boundaries around where you’ll go, what you’ll do, and who you’ll do it with.

  • Stretch in the dark of the morning. Here’s my Moon Salutation video on YouTube!

If any of those feel like a big move, book a call! Let’s play in possibility, beauty and pleasure.

Make inspired choices for yourself this Autumn and welcome in the turn of the year toward rest and renewal.
